Snow and Other Cold Weather Stuff!
That is me with a gigantic icicle! Having been born and raised in sunny California I have never seen, much less held, an icicle. Utah has opened my eyes to the fun of a winter wonderland. To fully appreciate the hilarity of this picture you have to see it when it was attached to the house and what Kyle went through to get it. Fear not my good followers! I was raised by a camera crazy mother and have pictures of both for you!Not only was it huge (and cold, poor Kyle nearly froze holding it while I tried to get my camera to work) and required trudging through a good 18 inches of snow, but Kyle actually pulled over on a random mountain road to facilitate me touching an icicle.
In addition to icicle fun, I "got" to drive Kyle's truck in the snow (he made me because apparently he needed a good laugh and wanted to chance his truck running through the front window of his home!) and I got to shovel and snow blow the drive way (I am sure the novelty wears off when you are forced to do it day after day after day).
Kyle took me sledding one night and I was petrified. We went down hills that were dangerously close to the steep valley they live in front of. We tipped over once and my back hit a rock (hard) and I accidently kicked Kyle in the face.
Here are the things I learned about snow and other cold weather stuff during my week in Utah:
1. Icicles are super pretty but can damage houses if allowed to grow too large.
2. I have an intense facisination with snow-covered trees. Seriously, I have 18 pictures of different trees.
3. Getting the cuffs of your pants wet on salted walkways leaves a ring.
4. Sledding can be quite frightening and painful.
And my favorite...
5. Snowflakes really look the way we drew them in grade school!!! Kinda like this * but much cooler.
Stay tuned for "My Trip to Utah: The Sequel."
Welcome to the wonderful world of Blogging.
ReplyDeleteI lived a few years in Park City, Utah before moving to Alaska so for me it too was a drastic change from living most of my life in Georgia.
Have fun with your blog, it can be fun. I've been blogging now for over three years and what started out as a way to keep in touch with family and friends has ended up making new friends from all over the place.
Enjoy!
